We've stayed in many apartments in Japan, Korea, Australia and NZ but this by far was the most cosy and best appointed. It has everything we could think of. All credit to Julia for her thoughtful design, provision of amenities and beside being super helpful and friendly. There's also helpful directions and recommendations in the apt itself - so helpful. You can holiday within the apt. It gives new dimension to "small is beautiful"!
The apt's location on a hill meant that you could look down at Sakamachi street from the verandah. Aka, it is so near and you can walk/eat/shop and then stroll back to a safe and considerate neighbourhood.
We will surely visit Otaru again - for the accommodation, shopping and food (glorious seafood)!
We didn't mind that it was on a "steep" slope but it would not be suitable for the non-ambulant or physically challenged.

I had previously stayed in another apartment on the 8th floor with the same host, and this time I stayed in the 1st-floor apartment. Once again, I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay.
The apartment has a nice view of the harbor. I really enjoyed having coffee on the balcony in the morning and a cold beer there in the evening. There is a coffee machine that grinds whole beans and makes fresh coffee, and the beer glasses are even kept chilled in the freezer. These thoughtful little details made the stay even more enjoyable.
The apartment was spotlessly clean, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The toilet is equipped with a bidet seat, and the queen-size bed was very comfortable. I was in Otaru for work, but it was a wonderful place to relax after a long day.
The kitchen is very well equipped and has almost everything you need for cooking. I also appreciated that Japanese rice was provided in the refrigerator. Parking can be arranged nearby if you reserve it in advance.
Mt. Tengu Ski Resort is very close, and Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort, and Niseko are all within about a 90-minute drive by rental car. This would make the apartment a great base for a ski trip as well. Instead of paying the higher prices at the ski resorts, I would recommend enjoying dinner in Otaru, where there are many good restaurants and the seafood is especially fresh.
Overall, I was very happy with the cleanliness, facilities, location, and comfort of the apartment. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Otaru.

大型バイクで滞在したので、砂利と急な坂道の駐車場は無理でした。
