Very disappointing experience — don’t be fooled by the view

The view

Our stay was extremely disappointing and ultimately ended with us having to leave the property after just one night. On the first day of our stay, the air conditioning broke down. The property manager came in the evening to try to fix it but was unable to do so. We were left with a fan that was filthy, covered in dust and dirt, and appeared to have been stored outdoors. With no functioning air conditioning, the temperature inside the property reached around 35°C at night and abobe 40°C during the day, making it impossible for us to stay comfortably. We therefore decided to leave the following day. We were told that we would be reimbursed for the nights we had not used. Unfortunately, what followed was another extremely frustrating experience. It took more than a month and numerous calls with Booking.com, many lasting over 45 minutes, to try to resolve the reimbursement. Booking.com also attempted to contact the property owner regarding the situation, but the owner did not respond to their requests. In the end, we received only a fraction of the compensation we were told we would receive. As for the property itself, the only real positive is the view. The accommodation is run-down and clearly in need of renovation and proper maintenance. The amenities and fixtures are extremely old. The bathroom shows obvious signs of previous water damage, with damage visible across the floor and door, as well as on the bedroom wall directly below the bathroom. The toilet is not properly secured to the floor and is very unstable. When you flush, water from the flush cistern runs down the wall, which is both unhygienic and concerning. Overall, this was a very poor experience, especially considering the price we paid. Do not be fooled by the beautiful view. There are plenty of lovely, recently renovated properties in Manarola that offer a much better standard of accommodation, and at a significantly lower price.

For us it was not a problem at all, but probably not ideal for elderly people or people with physical disabilities because you have to climb a pretty steep staircase to reach the bathroom at night. Again, the whole Cinqueterre is for the people in good shape, so it is not a complaint.

Exceptionnel

Appartement conforme aux photos, la vue dépasse toutes les attentes. Panorama exceptionnel depuis la terrasse comme depuis la cuisine on a presque envie d’y rester. Emplacement parfait : calme, tout en étant à 2 minutes du centre. Merci à Christian pour son formidable accueil. Manarola est magique… et les couchers de soleil depuis l’appartement sont tout simplement inoubliables. Literie et coussins ok.

Rien. La douche est petite mais on le voit sur les photos la pression de l’eau est très bonne et bien chaude.
