Italian, Mediterranean, and Alpine all at once. You can reach us car-free from the parking lots in Falmenta—just a 15-minute walk with your backpack.
Sunny, car-free location, hiking right from your doorstep
Our vacation apartments are located not far from Lake Maggiore in Italy, 11 km from Cannobio and the lake in the Cannobina Valley. Wildly romantic—Italian, Mediterranean, and Alpine all at once—just across the Swiss border in the Italian region of Piedmont. Locarno, Ascona, and Milan are within easy reach. The cozy houses, with their sunny south-facing locations and magnificent mountain views, are car-free and situated along an ancient stone path at an elevation of 700 meters. Far from mass tourism, this is the perfect place for low-impact tourism and sustainable vacations. One house accommodates 2 people; another accommodates up to 5–6 people. You can also book both houses together. We can accommodate up to 4 additional guests in vacation apartments managed by us in the immediate neighborhood here in Durone.
In addition to many hikes that require no drive—starting right from your doorstep, so to speak—the house invites you to linger, take in the views, savor the moment, and relax. Our village of Falmenta–Durone is hundreds of years old and characterized by old stone houses, palm trees, chestnut trees, and fig trees. Durone is car-free and accessible only on foot. The Val Grande, the largest nature reserve in the Alps, can also be explored on foot from here
