The hotel itself was great! It offered free parking, a pool, and complimentary breakfast, which made for a very enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly with providing us with extra towels and toiletries. The location was close to restaurants and activities.
My only issue was with the check-in process. When I checked in, I was charged $366. When I asked why, I was told it was a security deposit. That amount seemed unusual, so I asked for clarification but didn’t receive a clear explanation.
At checkout, I requested a receipt and asked about the charge again. I was then told the security deposit was $50 per night. Since I stayed five nights, that would have been $250—not $366. After asking several more questions, the young lady spoke with someone else, and I finally learned that $116 of the charge was for taxes that Expedia had not included when I prepaid.
I completely understand owing the additional taxes. My concern is that this should have been explained clearly at check-in. Instead, it felt like my questions were being brushed off. I recommend providing additional training for the front desk staff so they can accurately explain the breakdown of charges to guests. Better communication would have made this an excellent experience.
