It was a family run property! Even their senior dog poncho was welcoming. The food they cooked me was exceptional and it was right at the base of the hike to the lake and a great way to acclimatize. They were very kind

This was the perfect location after our Day 1 on the Salkantay Trail. It is accessible to the Humantay Lake trailhead as well as the Day 2 trail and has amazing Salkantay peak views (if the clouds make way xD). The cabins had SO MANY thick blankets provided, and it was very, very cozy, and we were super warm through the night. The cabin also had electricity. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept. Breakfast was SO YUMMY with freshly made pancakes with fruit and everything! We paid for dinner, and it exceeded our expectations. Make time to stargaze at night, as the Milky Way galaxy was crystal clear from here. The host was super welcoming. Overall, an AMAZING start to our trip. This is a must-book if you're doing the trail by yourself.
The host did not speak any English, so using Google Translate to communicate was a bit of a challenge. But other guests staying at the place helped us communicate, and it was excellent.

Seriously generous and tasty. Cabins have light, multiple blankets (you will need them all) and towels.
It gets really cold in the dining area as it’s not isolated well. We were not able to have tea at lunch time and had to go elsewhere.

Hosts were very kind and the beds were incredibly comfortable and warm in the frigid alpine nights. Towels and toilet paper provided was also a bonus.
This property is just not worth it for the price. I booked under the assumption that it cost $36 like the listing said but was informed it was $46 after taxes which made it the most expensive stay on the Salkantay, but was the worst accommodation we stayed at. They say “WiFi” but you do not know that it is only from 4-8pm. They say “electricity” but you do not know it cuts out in the middle of the night and you will wake up with a cold dead phone. They say “showers” but you do not know that means only freezing cold water in an already freezing cold alpine environment. On top of this the location for the property isn’t great. It is about a half mile from the Humantay trailhead so if you plan to do the Salkantay Trek, this means you will add and extra half mile walking back to your hostel at night as well as a half mile in the morning (which is a lot considering the 15 mile day to come).
