We stayed two nights at the Lake Batur Cabin to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas of Ubud. But, what we experienced at the small wooden cabin far exceeded our expectations.
The cabin is very tastefully built and decorated inside with lots of beautiful artwork, accentuating the charming views of the lake, mountains, and peaceful small garden area in the back. It’s an excellent place to enjoy nature in a peaceful setting.
Putu and his family are one of the most hospitable hosts we’ve met throughout our travels. They are very friendly and genuinely love meeting and chatting with guests to share their culture and experiences. Putu also offered his time to guide us and took us fishing with his boat, which our kids really enjoyed. He is clearly a man of many talents (photography being one of them) but is very modest.
His mother even cooked us a great family meal with some very tasty traditional Indonesian dishes that we shared together over hot tea and a nice evening chat. Knowing that we had a birthday we were celebrating in the family, Putu also went out of his way to surprise us with a birthday cake which we really appreciated and made it extra special.
We enjoyed a very tranquil and memorable stay at the cabin and would highly recommend others to experience the same!

Amazing cabin right on the lake with everything you need. Putu, the owner is very passionate about the community and culture and kindly took us for a tour on his boat and fishing. He then drove us to town for us to get some food and then back for a lovely camp fire! Unfortunately, we could only stay one night and we wish we’d stayed longer. Such a beautiful place to relax and Prut and his team made the stay unforgettable!

We stayed two nights in a place in the middle of the nature. The staff were extremely helpful. Took us to the hot springs, restaurant by car and fishing and boat cruse. At nights even a camp fire only for us! Really amazed about their hospitality.

De locatie is prachtig en erg lokaal. Je bevind je echt tussen de plaatselijke bevolking. Putu is een fijne gastheer. Hij nam mij en mijn kinderen mee vissen. Dit was een unieke ervaring. De volgende dag Mount Batur beklommen samen met Putu. Hij was een geweldige gastheer. Niks is teveel gevraagd. We hebben genoten! Deze plek is 100% aan te raden als je op zoek bent naar een unieke plek tussen de locals.
