Very unpleasant at the end

The room we stayed have wonderful mountain views, making us have a good mood every morning when we woke up from the beds. The public bath is also quite relaxing.

阿蘇CANYON TERRACE & LODGE obviously did not train their staff well. We stayed in Room 106 and Room 107 from 8/19 to 8/23. We traveled to Kumamoto for business, so we needed detailed receipts for reimbursement purposes, as required by our company. However, when we asked for the receipts from an older female staff member at the counter on August 23, she at first had no idea what we were talking about and then refused our request for unknown reasons. After we argued for a while, she finally issued one receipt to us. (We needed receipts for both rooms, but we did not notice that they had issued only one at that time.) When we returned home, they did not respond to our request for another receipt, either by email or through Booking.com messages. Finally, we decided to call 阿蘇. Once again, an older female staff member on the phone denied, refused, and argued against us. We don’t really understand why. Issuing receipts to customers is something every hotel in the world does every day. We have never experienced any difficulty in this regard during three decades of traveling around the world. 阿蘇CANYON TERRACE & LODGE’s response was truly surprising—not to mention the attitude, tone, and manner of the lady at the counter. It really ruined the beautiful view and reputation of this hotel. We will never stay there again and strongly suggest that no one should tolerate this level of customer service in the industry.

There is no shower in the room, but you can take a shower in public hot springs. Overall the accommodation is excellent.

Beautiful view, excellent food, friendly staff.

Quite large and impersonal hotel, but convenient for access to Aso-san

Good location close to Aso-san

Quite large and impersonal hotel, serving as a golf club and for group gatherings. Be conscious that breakfast and dinner have to be reserved 2 days in advance (which we weren't informed of), close by food options being limited.
