One of the few original Taipei hotels still remaining. It is a unique building full of charm, with a wonderful 1950s–1960s atmosphere and a perfect location right next to the night market. I love staying here because there are very few hotels like this left. It offers a rare glimpse into Taipei’s architectural and cultural past.
The rooms could use a bit of renovation, and mosquito screens on the windows would be a very welcome addition.

It’s a truly authentic experience. It’s definitely not for everyone—I had a pretty lousy mattress on the floor and a fan on the ceiling, with no air conditioning... but if you’re okay with all that, it’s perfectly fine. If you’d like to stay in an old-fashioned hotel—and I don’t mean that in a negative way at all—then go for it! :)
I missed having a kitchenette or a fridge, and the bathroom was in a rather poor state of maintenance.
