When you think of Magdeburg's tourist attractions, the first thing that comes to mind is Magdeburg Cathedral. But the largest and most imposing landmark of the city on the Elbe has recently had competition. Of a colourful, impetuous, beautiful architectural work of art that cheers out to the venerable church in the immediate vicinity: The new era is here! The Green Citadel of Magdeburg, designed as one of the last projects of the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, is the epitome of joie de vivre. The building in cheerful pink, shows dancing windows and golden tower balls, fragrant flower meadows and bulbous, colourful columns. In the middle of this oasis for the senses, a new hotel has opened: The Arthotel in the Green Citadel, a three-star superior hotel, has been welcoming guests to the city since July 2013.
Arrival is possible from 15:00 to 20:00 and departure from 07:00 to 10:00.
