My house, nestled within the 500-year-old, historic walls of Poreč’s car-free Old Town, overlooks the tree-lined “parco centro storico,” the intersection of the Cardo and Decumanus.
Via the open staircase in the courtyard, you enter the lower level, which features an entryway with a wardrobe, a laundry chest, and two beds. A small workshop is available to help with any minor repairs.
The spiral staircase leads up to the living area, which features a kitchenette, a dining table for 5 people, and multimedia equipment. The adjacent room contains a shower, toilet, and washing machine. A wood-burning stove with a supply of firewood helps keep you warm on cool nights.
In the studio above, in addition to a reading nook with a “library,” there are two more sleeping spots—guarded by a formidable fairy.
On the terrace, you can listen to the songs and ballads performed by the passionate live musicians at “Terra Magica” just around the corner. After midnight, the twinkling of the stars, the rustling of the pine trees, and the screeching of the love-struck black-headed gulls belong to you all by yourself.
At 7 a.m., the priest’s familiar bells will wake you from your dreams.

Within walking distance (about 500 m), you’ll find the daily fresh market with a fish market, the SPAR supermarket (7 a.m. to 8 p.m.), a TEDI discount store “with everything,” and plenty of bars, restaurants, and pizzerias;
You’ll have everything you need—information, doctors, pharmacies, hair salons, banks, and boutiques.
It’s 200 m to the city center, 150 m to the marina, 150 m to a quiet swimming spot, and 50 m to the ancient Agora.
You can walk to the beaches shaded by pine and cedar trees, as well as to spots for diving, surfing, kiteboarding, tennis, and “konobas” and bars.
Local buses run daily to all major towns in Istria.
E-bikes, e-scooters, e-karts, and maintenance services are available right next to the SPAR supermarket.

Zur Currently, there are no travel restrictions from Germany. The shortest and cheapest route from Munich by car is via Salzburg, Villach, Udine, Trieste, and Koper. Approximately 550 kilometers, 500 km of which are on the highway. The route via the Wurzen Pass or through the Karawanken Tunnel via Ljubljana in Slovenia (where you can stop at the rental company’s “castle”) is slightly shorter but a bit more expensive due to tolls.

As you approach Poreč, follow the signs to the “Palazzo” Hotel.
Once you’ve made it through the gate at “Saints & Sinners,” carry your luggage about 150 m to the house.
(On the plus side, no cars park in front of the house or rattle through your sleep.)
You’ll receive the keys to the apartment and for the bikes upon arrival.
The bus station (FlixBus, €29 Munich–Poreč) is about 300 m away.
