Great, spacious location and great value

Location was perfect and very spacious. Good cleaning and easy access to the keys.

Previous person had broken the water kettle so we couldnt boil water for tea or other things, but we managed without:)

We didn't feel cared for. We felt the host had mastered a language to get away with things.

We liked the location and that despite the apartment being in the center of the city, the traffic noise did not travel through into the bedrooms at night. (There was a heavy-walking-at-night upstairs neighbor, though.)

There were several things that compiled, and that compilation of many things annoyed us. The host was not prepared to make it a pleasant experience for people to visit Riga in winter for two weeks. Streets in winter in Riga are covered in a mixture of snow, sand, and salt, and that mixture sticks to shoes. There is no stool by the entrance to sit on to put on or take off shoes, nor is there a rug to prevent dirt from being brought inside. We had to mop floors daily, and for that, we had to use the same worn-out mop head as there was no replacement. The space under the beds had not been vacuumed for months (if ever). We each had one body towel and one hand towel to use for 14 days! When I asked the host if he could provide us with extra towels, he offered a mid-term cleaning instead for 50 euros. (We needed cleaning daily, and we took care of it). The worst problem was the drainage problem in the shower. We had to stand in an unsanitary pool of wastewater while showering. I reported it when it stopped draining at all. Then, the host asked us to use a butter knife to lift the cage covering the drain to remove hair from underneath. We did find a full scalp amount of hair, which must have been accumulated there from many previous visitors. The smell was horrible. The host should have cleaned it before our arrival. We felt we should have charged for cleaning, not being charged. Other problems were the broken and leaking coffee maker, the water heating can, and the missing oven door. We also felt like the owner was lying when saying that the previous guest's kid broke it, because another guest had reported the door missing 4 months prior. The rooms were cold, and there were no extra blankets to help feel warmer at night. Each person had a very small pillow. There were extra pillows in the storage room, but no pillow cases to use with them. Moreover, we booked the apartment believing there were two bathrooms in it.
