We loved our week stay at the hotel. The staff are exceptional, were happy to help with anything, and the room we had (pool access) was a dream. We had hand luggage only and the room was definitely big enough.
From reading other reviews and just general life my concerns were lack of sun chairs, the reported sewage smell since I am sensitive to smells and how varied the food would be (as a vegetarian) and I can say that I should not have been worried at all. The room was clean, smelled fresh, and was tidied at every opportunity. Perhaps we were not visiting at the busiest time but there was no lack of seating at any point.
The food selection was also varied and the desserts were exceptional. Out of the 5 dinners we had, only during one I had to ask the chef to make me something to cater to my vegetarian diet and they were happy to do it without question. All other evenings the options were plentyful. The food also changed theme each night (from italian, to french, to greek, mexican, and japanese) My partner said that especially the fish dishes were lovely.
Overall I would rate the breakfast a 3.5/5 (but 4/5 if you order your own omelette/eggs and don't eat the buffet eggs), lunch 4/5, dinner 3.5/5, and dessert 5/5.
The one standout feature was the selection of cocktails, and the daily yoga that you should definitely try, and even though weather did not favour us, there were plenty of covered areas to spend time in. We also adored the cats that loitered around the hotel.
The beach nearby seemed nice but weather didn't let us explore it that thoroughly.
Our flight left in the afternoon so the hotel was also kind enough to store our luggage and let us use the facilities at the hotel until our ride picked us up. The airport is also very close (maybe 15min drive)
We booked the holiday to purely stay at the pool and drink cocktails so location was not an issue for us but it is a bit of a trek to Heraklion proper if you are concerned about that. Still, a taxi was not a problem and took maybe 40min at quite a busy time.
We were also charged for the nightly city/travel tax again when checking in, even though it is included on booking, but this was very promptly refunded as soon as the receptionist noticed the mistake but just take care that you will not be charged twice for it
The only possible improvement is that the gym could be bigger and better equipped but we made do with some light exercises (and with yoga and swimming)

maybe monitor the sun bed situation so people don't put towels on the beds and then not use them, may be if a bed is left empty for say an hours remove the towels and alike to let other use it
