It was an amazing experience. We were just looking for a place to stay near Biertan, but we found so much more! In Curciu, you have at your disposal an old house with an adjacent former gothic chapel, turned to a dining room, but also a spacious interior of a Lard Tower, a small wooden terrace on the outer side of the walls, and basically all the space inside the walls is your private garden - and there's a 15th century gothic church in the middle of it. All the interior of the house and the tower is renovated according to a designer project by an architectural studio Modul 28; check on their website for more photos. It was very comfortable, very clean and very well-thought-out place. The whole idea of this apartment is to preserve it as a historical building by giving it a new function; otherwise it would remain a deserted, forgotten place, as the Saxon community, which had used this church for centuries, no longer exists in Curciu - apart from four people, and in this number there's mister ringer, who comes every morning and every evening to ring the church bells... (but he doesn't interrupt the apartment guests). The village itself is quiet and peaceful. There's one grocery with everything you need. It's possible to reach Curciu by bus, but it's rather obviously a place for car or bike travelers.
The second bedroom, in the attic, has a separate entrance; when it rains, you need an umbrella to go to the bathroom or to the ground floor of the house, but for our teenager it was rather a huge advantage to stay separated and independent :)
Last but not least, among great advantages of Curciu there's warm and welcoming Mrs. Dana, who lets you in, but may also guide you through the church, providing you with lots of historical knowledge. We are very grateful to Mrs. Dana for her great kindness and for friendly conversations. We spent in Curciu three nights, it was far too short, and we definitely want to come back.

The location is the place to be for everyone who seeks tranquility, authenticity and peace of mind.
Situated at a convenient 10 minutes drive from Mediaș, the accommodation can be considered a best practice of an adaptive reuse case in the Transylvanian fortified church landscape.
Flexible in usage and with high quality design, it was a revelation for us.
We will return for a longer stay!
The internet connection wasn't great at times but we used the offline hours to our benefit, reading and having more quality time together. It didn't bother us too much.

Mi-nu-nat! O idee grozava de a te caza intr-o biserica fortificata! Cea mai inedita si interesata experienta de cazare! Renovata cu mult simt estetic, confortabil, curat, spiritual. Doamna Dana primitoare si amabila!
