BEWARE! Don't let yourself get scammed.
Communication was good in terms of access, guides of the amenities, essentially just how to open the front door... The rest isn't required.
The amount of broken, restricted and essentially unusable amenities at this property was genuinely shocking. When I first arrived, my immediate impression was that general maintenance had been severely neglected. This is particularly surprising given the property reportedly sold for $12.2 million and is being operated as accommodation — you would expect a much higher standard of upkeep.
There were numerous issues throughout the property, including broken blinds at the entrance, a tap coming off in one of the ensuites while simply washing our hands, beds being held together with tech screws, and balcony doors that we were told were not accessible.
The hanging chairs near the BBQ were also a serious safety concern. They were apparently unable to safely support someone under 80 kg, and three people actually fell when using them. This is not simply a matter of the property being a little tired — that is a genuine safety issue that should be addressed.
The most concerning part of our stay, however, was the $300 charge we were hit with for an allegedly broken sofa leg. This was not discussed or negotiated with us beforehand; we were simply advised that $300 would be taken. When I questioned the charge and asked for photographic evidence, I was told that evidence would be provided. Despite following up, I have received absolutely no communication or evidence whatsoever.
We were playing pool in the area and would have noticed if the sofa had broken, particularly as three of us sat on it during the evening. None of us are overweight or were misusing the furniture, and to our knowledge the sofa was perfectly functional when we left the property.
Given the lack of evidence provided despite specifically being told it would be supplied, I have serious concerns that this $300 charge was unjustified. I will be pursuing the matter further through Booking.com.
There were also visible holes in the pool room walls, damaged blinds and numerous other signs of poor maintenance.
