Yiayia's apartment is right in the middle of Gialos, the harbour area of Symi town. It's set back from the waterfront by just a few metres, in a quiet residential area next to the church and a chandlery, so you don't feel you're in a busy tourist spot. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the locals -and the cats - go by. Nikos is a wonderful host, arranging taxis to and from the ferry port, and again when we had to get to the medical centre in Chorio in a rush before our departure.
Like many traditional buildings in Symi, the bedrooms are actually mezzanine rooms above the living areas, and up very steep stairs. We anticipated that one of the bedrooms would be like this, but we had assumed that the other was below, on the same level as the bathroom and toilet. But it wasn't, so both of us (in our 70s and 80s) had to negotiate the steep descents in the night. For this reason alone we would hesitate to recommend it anyone with mobility problems. Despite this, we loved the apartment and would stay there again.

We received a warm welcome from Nikos and Yaya. Nikos collected us from the ferry port and helped us settle in. Giving us lots of information about the island. There is a handy biomarket closeby and supermarket selling fresh fruit & veg.
There is nothing bad to say the place is perfect. I didn't want to.leave.
