Eko Hotel Gardens

Eko Gardens: A Little Peace, a Little Indulgence and a Lot of Irish Hospitality! Some hotels are wonderful to discover. Others are even more wonderful to return to. Eko Hotel Gardens falls very firmly into the second category for me. I've stayed here several times now, and it continues to remind me why I keep coming back. First, the room. Immaculately clean, comfortable and wonderfully peaceful. In a city as gloriously energetic as Lagos, finding somewhere that allows you to close the door on the hustle and bustle and enjoy some genuine tranquillity is no small achievement. Eko Gardens manages it beautifully. Then there's Toast, which has become one of my favourite little indulgences within the Eko complex. A delicious breakfast is a splendid way to begin the day, while an ice cream provides an equally splendid excuse to forget whatever good intentions one might have had about behaving sensibly! It's a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy yourself. And, of course, there's the Lagos Irish Pub. I find something wonderfully comforting about walking into an Irish pub in the middle of Lagos and immediately feeling welcome. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and wonderfully convivial, the sort of place where you intend to pop in briefly and somehow find yourself reluctant to leave. What makes Eko Gardens particularly special is the combination of all three experiences. You have the peace and cleanliness of the accommodation, the pleasures of Toast, and the welcoming, sociable atmosphere of the Irish Pub, all within easy reach of one another. And throughout it all, there's that reassuring feeling of being somewhere familiar, comfortable and consistently enjoyable. I have stayed in many hotels across Lagos, including some considerably grander establishments, but Eko Gardens has something that isn't necessarily guaranteed by luxury or a higher price tag. It has a knack for making me feel at home.
