Hitchin Priory Hotel

Food in evening is exceptional don't know why more people don't eat there. Nice ambience too xx

When we arrived we were told we needed the booking PIN which I did not have with me. It was a shame we were not told it was a requirement. In then end my dcriving license was sufficient. Webwere then shown to a room on the first floor of the main building which was not what we had booked. The man on the desk sorted out a room in the anned building on then ground floor which did match what we booked. There were some issues with the room so David arranged a partial refund. Leaking tap on bathroom sink that needed a new washer and the toilet was flushing the whole time. Generally there seemed to be a lack of general maintenance which is a shame for such a lovely grade 1 listed main building. The dinning area is a bit special.

Initially being put on the first floor

Excellent breakfast. Excellent location, quiet and central. The rooms were very clean.

The decor was rather dated and in need of upgrade.

Location & history

Tired, scruffy & dated. Bedroom was acceptable but bathroom not. Tiny shower cubicle with dripping shower that couldn’t produce hot water
