The location of the accommodation is not good.
It was one of the worst experiences. On the evening of 29.12.2024 we landed in Rio de Janeiro and tried to go to this accommodation with an Uber. From the airport we realized that something is not ok because Uber does not go to that neighborhood. For that reason we ordered a taxi and headed to this accommodation. When we started to enter this neighborhood we realized that it is a favela and it becomes dangerous. From that moment we started to get scared because even the taxi driver started to get nervous. Going up through that favela some persons started stopping the taxi driver to ask him different things and what we were doing there. There were people on the side of the street doing drugs and with machine guns in their hands.
This accommodation is located at the top of the favela where the road ends and there are no cars in that area, only motorbikes. When we arrived, at our destination the taxi was surrounded by people curious to see what was in the car, another person was asking the taxi driver different things and he was raising his finger 👍 and telling them that it was ok, men with guns in their hands were walking around the car, the taxi driver was very stressed and sweating a lot. We called the accommodation manager a few times but no answer and made the decision to get out of there as soon as possible. The driver had to get out of the car several times to ask those people to let him turn the car around. We thank God we got out of there alive. We spoke to the owner and he said he would not agree to give us our money back, stating that the area is not dangerous.
