We informed the agency about our estimated arrival time with the separate link they sent us a few days prior. Instructions were given to us on how to access the building and the appartment. All seemed clear.
We can't rate the apartment, so this feedback is just about the service we experienced: We arrived at 17:00 and wanted to do the self-checkin. However, the keys to the appartment were not in the keybox. We immediately tried to contact someone, but since no phone number was provided, we could only use the chat through Booking.com. After ~20mins of waiting someone finally replied. We were told someone would bring the keys within 15–20 minutes. No one could tell us why the keys had not been in the keybox. We didn't think much of it and waited patiently outside. The hallway had a bit of a foul odor so we prefered waiting outside in the fresh air even though it was cold. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting until 18:30 (1.5hrs) for the person to show up and honestly by then our mood was not good anymore. Once the guy opened the appartment it turned out it had not been cleaned AT ALL: The bed was not made, trash was laying on the floor and in the kitchen, and dirty towels and used toothbrushes were still in the bathroom. We demanded to speak to the supervisor of the guy who had come to open the door (he was just a kid who had been sent to very angry customers). He called his boss and handed us the phone. The agent on the phone was very unfriendly and did not understand why we were so upset. He refused to take any responsibility or answer our questions on what had gone wrong. So we decided we had enough and left. Later, the agent called me again and suggested that someone knowing the access codes may have entered and stayed in the apartment without their knowledge. This explanation made us feel even more uncomfortable and unsafe, so we declined their offer to have the apartment cleaned and the access codes changed, and decided to stay somewhere else. We ended up booking a hotel instead. Despite Booking.com trying to help us obtain a full refund, the agency refused it. I cannot recommend this service at all.
