Amazing location but apartment is in poor condition

The village of Marinella is beautiful; multitudes of terracotta ‘apartments’ sitting row by row around the bay. The restaurant, run by Tony and Daniella, serves fantastic fare daily; freshest of fish and delicious pasta for our three girls. During the high season, the village bustles with life - music and laughter till late into the night. It is joyful. The terrace at the apartment is stunning, so comfortable and lovely to sit and watch the sunset from. The little beaches are lovely for a cool dip. The pool is fantastic - yes - you need to wear swimming caps but this is normal and they can be bought from the village restaurant. It is best to have a car to get around - we didn’t see any buses or taxis the whole time we were there. Marinella is a short distance in the car from the wonderful Porto Rotundo and about 45 mins from Porto Cervo. We also did boat trips around Le Maddalena and down to Cala Gonone (about 2 hrs by car). The management firm, ‘Interhome’ and especially Lara were quick to assist us with problems. The key pick up was only a 5 min walk from the apartment. We had clean towels and sheets upon arrival. The apartment had a parking space.

Unfortunately, the apartment needs a lot of TLC. It is obvious that there have been efforts made to improve things but generally, the place is very tired with mould in the bathroom and an electric system that is not compatible with the new appliances installed. The pictures don’t match the actual place as most of the styling finishes are not actually in the apartment. As is common in some older Italian buildings, none of the appliances plug into the electrical sockets and thus a converter is required. As there were no converters supplied, we used our own and unfortunately, the power outlet caught fire. We turned the power off but our converter was destroyed. Lara, the in-home representative was quick to respond and supplied two converters but we suggested that in future they should already be in the apartment and if theft is a problem, guests should be required to return the converters along with the keys after their stay. I scrubbed the shower to remove as much mould between the tiles but the whole space desperately needs regrouting ( see photos). Furniture and finishes are poor - mismatched and generally past their prime. The floor is very much in need of a deep clean to remove decades of built up dirt between the tiles. The plaster and paint on the walls is very damaged in places and also really needs an update. In summary, this apartment has a huge amount of potential and location / surroundings are wonderful but until the space is updated fully, it is not really appropriate for general public use.

Prostředí resortu bylo krásné a čisté, výhled přímo z terasy byl luxusní. Pláž byla pár kroků od domu. Dostupnost lokalit z krásnými plážemi, pokud máte auto.

Nejsme nároční, ale i pro nás bylo ubytování katastrofální. Při našem nočním příjezdu jsme se chtěli otočit na patě a ujet pryč. Apartmán má své nejlepší roky dávno za sebou. Se starým nábytkem se srovnáme, ale se špínou ne. Nádobí bylo špinavé a apartmán nebyl vybaven ani základními čisticími prostředky. Celkově působil velmi špinavým dojmem. Otlučené škaredé zdi, zamaštěné kachličky kolem linky…

Alles ausserhalb der wohnung war eine 10.

Die Wohnung ist sehr dunkel (nie so hell wie auf den professionell ausgeleuchteten Fotos). Die Inneneinrichtung ist sehr sehr alt und müsste man fast gesamthaft entsorgen und neu möblieren.
