The Trace des Caps is one of the most famous hikes in Martinique but it is also, with its 27 kilometers, the longest. This route, which most often remains by the sea, allows you to discover the south of the Atlantic coast with its coral reef and its magnificent white sand beaches. Given its length, this hike can be done in several distinct stages. It is usual to break it down into 5 sections: Petit Macabou - Cap Macré (5 km, 2 hours), Cap Macré - Cap Chevalier (7 km, 3 hours), Cap Chevalier - Baie des Anglais (6 km, 2 hours 30 minutes), Anse Trabaud - Salines (5 km, 2 hours), Salines - Anse Caritan (4.5 km, 1h30). The hike begins at the Anse du Petit Macabou, which we follow in the undergrowth before joining the Grand Macabou. The path follows the long beach (1.5km), a little set back from the sea, in the middle of a large coconut grove and then reaches Cap Beauchêne on which the small chapel of the Virgin of the Sailors is perched. We then pass the Anse Grosse Roche, beautiful, wild and very little frequented before reaching the Pointe Macré with its heart-shaped pierced rock, then the Cap Macré. The path then takes the asphalt road for 1km before branching off to the left in the forest to go around the Cul de Sac Ferré.
