We spent 1 week with Cat and Shark and it was such a wonderful time!
The hotel is charmingly located in the small village of Yomase with a ski slope accessible in a few steps from the front door.
You can rent your equipment from the owner or from the rental shop where u need to buy lift tickets 8 min away by foot for slightly more money.
They’re less than half an hour from the Ilyama Shinkansen station a direct train from Tokyo, and will pick you up from the station for a small fee.
Everyday there is a free shuttle to Nozawa onsen town if you wish to ski there and most any transport in the area (for example, to visit the local monkeys) can be organised with the owner for a small fee.
We had room and half board. The food offered was delicious, fresh and healthy.
Note as with many ski chalets in Japan this is an establishment with shared toilet and onsen. There is plenty of space and everything is kept clean and well stocked in toiletries. You can also do your laundry on site.
The couple that owns the establishment is incredibly friendly and we were genuinely sad to leave.

The staff is incredibly warm, they treat their guests like family. They’re very flexible to accommodate your every request, had a free shuttle bus going to Nozawa Onsen daily and we got home cooked dinners every night. They have shared bathrooms but they were clean and convenient. They even provided all the daily hygiene products you’d need. Also had a private onsen tub. Right behind the hotel there’s another small ski resort you could use.
