A cross between cold comfort farm and the bbc programme back in time for tea from the pre war era! Awful
Absolutely nothing! There were no directions although 4 farms share the same post code, the sign for the farm was hardly visible, the sign for parking was shabby, that before we went along the path which was full of nettles. Once inside I was speechless and would have gone home if we hadn’t had an appointment in Dumfries the next day.
Once inside the thin home made door with gaps all the way round and having avoided the cemetery of daddy long legs above it, there was nothing to welcome you, just little notes asking to not use too much loo roll, turn off the Rayburn because it was expensive and strip the bed when leave. A “hello and welcome note would have been far more appropriate. The bathroom was so small you had to sit side on to the loo as the hand basin was in the way. The towels were so crisp they could be used for exfoliating and there were only two for both of us, some of the floor tiles were also missing. The sitting room, kitchen was dark and small with an upright piano dominating. Again fly cemeteries in cobwebs and more peeling paint indicating damp. The sofa and chair were uncomfortable, the floor mat I wouldn’t let the dogs lie on, it was so unpleasant. This was particularly annoying as we were charged an extra £20 for the dogs to stay! The kitchen area was mean, everything to the lowest possible quality. No pan lids, dirty dish cloth, not enough plugs and the fridge door broke so a bottle of milk couldn’t stand up. No freeze compartment.
Going upstairs you take your life in your hands, loose carpets, unstable hand rail, no light switch visible until you reach the top. Here you are greeted with an odds and ends shop of domestic items for sale! The bed was so old you rolled into the centre and when I stripped it on leaving I was repulsed by the blood stains on the duvet. Everything was old and shabby and gave me the creeps. Please note this is not the view of someone who has never been to a farm, we live in the wilds of Northumberland but still manage to be civilised.

Very disappointed
The location was beautiful and the owner was nice
The photos on the sight well outdated, does not look the same
The flat was full of dog hair and not very clean we didn’t end up staying the night had to find somewhere else
Very disappointing

Fabulous little place in rural Dumfriesshire
Location is fantastic - as rural as you'll get. Beautiful Scottish countryside - close enough to Dumfries to use the EV chargers in town but far enough away to be rural. Host was very nice - met us at the property. Everything you need for cooking/washing up - hob, microwave, kettle, cafetiere, fridge (no ice box if you like your cocktails jaggy!) belfast sink (or something very like it). As Martin's ad states - it is not clinically presented - it is authentic and rural. We felt warm enough so didn't light the range nor the log fire in the bedroom - wasn't needed. No bathroom as such but WC has a fantastic wee shower. LOADS to grab your eye - paintings, books, crockery - there's even a piano with some music sheets! Lovely place - would love to go back. Dumfries - terrible roads when we visited, town centre is a bit grid locked. New Abbey Corn Mill definitely worth a visit. Sweetheart Abbey too - both Historic Scotland sites. Staff were very knowledgeable and team room and big long walks around the abbey. Free parking too.
I think if I enter anything here, I'd be being pedantic. It's rural, rustic and you get what you see. Enjoy!

A wonderfully relaxing stay at Threecrofts. We had four comfortable nights in a charming little 18th century house, attached to the host's. Think small, cosy, country and comfortable, surrounded by books and antiques with a shabby country style ...it suited us perfectly. Our collie Keats was welcome and got on well with the resident dog...there is a garden area where dog he roamed happily. We took all our food and made happy use of the little kitchen...there is a fridge, hob and microwave to cook with and enough pans etc. Spag Bol and a glass of wine in the garden was very lovely! There's a little TV with loads of DVDs and great WIFI so my partner worked remotely. Bathroom is very cute...we both squeezed under shower...lovely hot water! This is a great gettaway and we loved the remote and peaceful vibe. It was warm so no heating needed...in winter there's a big aga to heat the place and a woodburner upstairs...very romantic! Martin, our host is a gentleman. The key was in the door when we arrived and there are notes for Wifi code etc. Martin was about for everything we needed and put up with our chatting too! This is a special place, à personal one, and rather different in its charm and personality.
If you love the sound of horses neighing outside the window, bats flying about at dusk and some awesome stars on a clear night, you might forgive a cobweb or two enjoy this interesting little place to stay.
Thanks again Martin...Alex and I had a great holiday !
There was nothing we did not like. However, if you're self catering over an extended period, it's worth noting in the details that there is no freezer.

We loved that it has so much character and charm. It was like stepping back in time. It’s very rustic and like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Was delightful.
Martin was friendly made us feel welcome.
The landscape setting was beautiful. We were so relaxed on our 2 night stay.
The potholes on the path to the property were a bit big.
