Uncomfortable experience

I wish I could write a better review, but unfortunately, this stay was a very uncomfortable experience. First, however, the positive aspects: Giovanni was quick to respond and kindly allowed me to check in earlier so that I could participate in a video call. The check-in itself was easy. Moreover, the flat is located in the historic center, so many sights and restaurants are within walking distance. The bed in the smaller room was also comfortable, and the vaulted stone ceiling is a really nice feature.

Unfortunately, the main reason for this review is that the flat was very dirty and did not appear to have been properly cleaned. I called Giovanni and told him about the issue, as I felt very uncomfortable staying in a flat in this condition. I found large clumps of dust and hair on the floor, hair on the bed, and even a piece of spaghetti on the floor. I sent him pictures of what I found. At first, he downplayed the issue and said that the cleaning company had simply missed two small spots. When I explained that the dirt was not limited to just two spots, he said that because I had requested an earlier check-in, they had had to rush the cleaning a little. I arrived about an hour before check-in time and waited outside, but I did not see anyone from the cleaning company leaving the building before he arrived. What made the situation particularly uncomfortable for me was his reaction when I asked whether I could cancel free of charge so that I could find a clean place to stay. He accused me of fabricating the evidence and suggested that I had placed the dirt there myself in order to receive a discount. In the end, he sent the cleaning company back, and they cleaned the flat the following morning and brought fresh sheets. He followed up to make sure that the cleaning had been done and was quick to respond during check-out and afterwards. Apart from the cleanliness the flat does not really match the impression given by the pictures. It is quite run-down, and several things are visibly worn, such as the couch. This is a pity because the rooms have a nice layout, and with some renovation, fresh paint on the walls, a new couch, etc., it could be a really nice place to stay. Personally, I think the flat is too small for 4 people. I would recommend it for one or two people. The street leading to the flat is also quite dirty, although this is obviously not the host’s fault. At night, the area felt a little unsafe to me because some of the streetlights were not working.

The location is perfect.

Just the location.

There is no lighting on the stairway. No toilet paper. Broken toilet cover.

Perfect place for a short trip!

The location was so ideal! Close to all the attractions but tucked up away in a quiet cute street. The host was so helpful and allowed us a later check in due to our flight coming in later, whilst also provided us with fantastic recommendations for restaurants and gelato shops!

Nothing, had a fantastic stay!

9 / 10

It was a comfortable stay, the host was very helpful and always in touch in case of questions.

The location is quite good, very close to a nice area of Piazza Navona. The apartment had everything we needed for the comfortable stay.

It can get a bit noisy, as there are some dining places nearby.
