I really loved the room: big, spacious, with a large bath tub, and a huge, super comfortable bed. I had given a heads-up that I have an intolerance to gluten and lactose, and they were so kind to prepare cakes for breakfast that would accommodate my intolerances. Plenty of good options for breakfast - they even make eggs however you like upon request. The location is fantastic: on a hilltop surrounded by vineyards, away from the main roads, overlooking the lovely Costigliole d'Asti. Everyone in the staff was kind and welcoming. It was also great to enjoy the spa (with a wonderful view as well), plenty of towels and bathrobes provided, plus water and space to rest.
The heating/cooling system was quite noisy in the room, had to turn it off while sleeping; rooms are not very well sound-proofed and I could literally hear what people were saying outside. I found it a bit stingy on toiletries (I don't think I've ever been to a 4-star hotel that doesn't provide skin lotion and hair conditioner) and the hairdryer was of low quality (one of those that are hung on the wall, and no diffusor - something I have been finding in 2-star hotels these days). The spa is really nice, but the hydro-massage lasts 1 minute or 2 which is quite annoying as you need to keep turning it on again and can't really relax for a while. I found a few spiders in the room which wasn't great. We couldn't figure out how to make the rain shower work and despite the shower being quite big, there was water going even into the bedroom. As I said, breakfast was really good except for the coffee, it didn't taste good at all, and there was no possibility of making a cappuccino with veg milk. All in all I had a wonderful time but considering the price I paid I would have expected more.
