Worst hospitality I have every experienced in all my local and international travels.
We have seen this garden during the Hogsback open gardens weekend. But that's were it stops for us. There was nothing good I can say. Shame on you
This is, without a doubt, the worst hospitality experience we have ever had.
We booked this house for the weekend and received confirmation, along with a message from the owner. When we arrived, the person assisting us bluntly told us he “wasn’t ready” for us. He could clearly see our confirmed booking on his computer, yet instead of apologising or offering any help, he literally chased us off the property because he “didn’t know we were coming.”
There was no apology, no attempt to assist us in finding alternative accommodation, and when I asked about sorting out a refund, he told me to handle it myself with Booking.com. Shame on you, sir — this behaviour is disgraceful and completely unacceptable in the hospitality industry.
The owner promised to get back to us within an hour, but never did. Because there were multiple functions in the area that weekend, we couldn’t find a single room anywhere and were forced to drive 2½ hours back home that night.
When I followed up about the refund, the owner repeatedly claimed to be “too busy” and needed more time — we are still waiting. This has been formally reported to Booking.com.
The setting may be beautiful, but the utter lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic human decency from this establishment is shocking. If anyone thinks this review is exaggerated, we had friends with us who will gladly corroborate every detail. We also have the emails and messages to back this up if Booking.com requires proof.
Avoid this property at all costs. It is an absolute disgrace to the Hogsback hospitality community and should be removed from the platform immediately.
