bad host

The owner made a double booking and even though I had confirmation from booking.com the owner never took care of the situation, did not even cancel the booking form their side. very bad management. the local caretaker was very helpful and trying to arrange alternative accomodation, but even she had limited response from the owner. suggest you look for another place for your stay ...

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!!

This was a nightmare of a stay for us!! The location is likely THE ONLY thing that was maybe even "ok" about this stay.

Husband and I traveling with 3 kids and there was no one there to meet us. Then, when I called the contact number, a lady, Georgina, finally came. Georgina was very nice but was someone the owner of the property, Miriam, hired to meet the guests. Georgina said that our place had been double-booked, and that this had also happened to them some time before. We were taken to a DIFFERENT room than I had booked, and there were people still in it! Awkwardly, Georgina wanted us to come in and sit down while they packed up?! I'm not sure if these people were guests who were checking out late or family. We discussed with Georgina that we really wanted the place we had actually booked, and were able to get the actual owner, Miriam, on the phone. Miriam said that she had been "locked out" of Booking.com for months and couldn't see any bookings and that all the messages sent between she and I had been automated. I looked back and this could be possible. However, as someone with this listing one must get to the bottom of it and cancel whatever is going on with Booking.com! She seemed upset with me and none too apologetic. IT GETS WORSE. We left and came back in the evening to NO ELECTRICITY. It was super hot in this upstairs apartment and we didn't have any fans, AC, or even lights. Also, the refrigerator was off and spoiled all our food. We called Georgina and she said that the cost of electric wasn't included in the booking cost and was a separate charge?!? I have never heard of anything like it. The next night, same thing: this time at 2AM. My husband went down and somehow found a security guard and an mpesa number in order to pay to turn it on. Of the 2 days we had in Mombasa, one was completely ruined with trying to figure out our accomodations, and both nights we were without electricity. They even had the nerve to tell us "they weren't charging us to upcharge for this apartment" (apparently we were in a nicer one than we had...
