We are a family of four with two teenagers and spent two nights at Ties Camp—and we would give it ten stars if we could!
The location is wonderful: close to nature and the perfect place to unwind after the bustle of Tokyo. Our tent was incredibly comfortable, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean, and we were impressed by how thoughtfully every single detail had been considered. Everything made it easy to relax and enjoy our surroundings. We especially loved sitting around the bonfire at night—a lovely highlight of our stay.
What truly made this experience exceptional, though, was the kindness of the staff. They genuinely cared about making our stay special and went out of their way to help, from arranging taxis to supporting us when our son needed a doctor. We were so grateful for their care and practical assistance at a worrying moment—it meant more to us than we can say.
Ties Camp exceeded our expectations in every way. We left feeling rested, warmly welcomed, and already wishing we could return. We wholeheartedly recommend it and would love to come back!

Everything about this location is top notch for people that enjoy the nature with every possible convenience. They provide everything you need to get the most out of this place. The hosts was super friendly and nice helped with everything before we checked in and after. I do recommend to stop here for a night before doing the trail

What an amazing stay! The campsite is located on the Nakasendo trail, and makes the perfect stop while walking. The tents are beautifully furnished and have everything you need (even thick duvets and heaters for the colder nights). The toilets and showers are very clean and have all the amenities one might need. Additionally, the kitchen is fully equipped and an absolute delight to use. I would recommend pre-ordering dinner with the owners so you can cook at your own fire pit without having to worry about carrying that up with you. Lastly, the owners are extremely welcoming and we felt at home straight away. Wish we could have stayed longer!

This was by far our favourite stay in Japan. It’s hard to describe how perfect it is, but the tents are large and comfortable with raised beds but also multiple mats on the floor (we had the best sleeps with our baby), the showers and toilets are incredibly clean and convenient and the kitchen is easily accessible and stocked with everything you could need or want. I highly recommend ordering the meals - delicious fresh ingredients delivered with amazing sauces and all you need to do is cook over a hot pot or BBQ under the stars. The fact that the campsite is also on the nakasendo trail and can be easily accessible by walking from the station (about 40 minutes so be fit) or via taxi (which we easily did) is an added bonus. Finally the foot onsen overlooking the mountains was an added comfort after long days of walking. I honestly cannot recommend this magical place more.
