I've booked many "private host" accommodations via Booking over the years. None have been bad, all were absolutely acceptable, and some I would even call great. But even the very best places always left *something* to be desired. For instance: an almost perfect accommodation, but flights of stairs to climb to get there. Or a fantastic bathroom + shower, but with nowhere to stow toiletries or hang up towels. Or a great little kitchen, but no decent cooking equipment? I can go on and on.. but you know what I mean.
This is the first place I’ve ever stayed that has ALL the things I want ALL together! Excellent location right on the edge of the old town, just a 2-3 minute walk from a metro station that will bring you almost as fast to the main Rouen train station. The very friendly host Marjorie not only reacted quickly to every message/enquiry before, during and after, but met us personally to hand over the keys, walk us through the apartment, and explain where we could find what and – if necessary – how it worked.
The apartment is not new/modern, but has been excellently cared for. A small, but efficient, elevator to get you quickly up and down to the 5th floor. All the rooms (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living/dining area) are good-sized, and there is easily plenty of space in all of them for you to place your own things. There are also two French doors leading to a narrow balcony/terrace with table and chairs overlooking the cathedral. All the above-mentioned rooms are also fully stocked with full cooking + dining gear, extra pillows and blankets, washing machine, iron + ironing board, stereo + TV, and various items for infants, such as a high chair and special baby plates and utensils. It’s absolutely complete.
I consider this the only “perfect’ private host accommodation I’ve stayed at.

We loved the central location of the apartment, and that it is well above street level with the bonus of a lift to get up there. The balcony was nice too and the apartment had everything to make our stay very enjoyable.
