Leleana Resort on Kolombangara

Lily is the most amazing host and is willing to share so much knowledge about the local area and people. We had a really authentic experience and Lily cooks amazing meals every day. There are lots of different activities you have access to from hiking to snorkelling, to village visits. We were lucky enough to experience the local church and get a glimpse into village life. If you are a teacher, consider bringing some school supplies as they have minimal access to supplies on the island.

Everything was fantastic, our only feedback would be to consider if you are a strong walker before going on the hike. We are pretty fit but found the rugged terrain challenging on the descent as we didn’t have proper shoes. Also consider wearing long pants as you are walking through thick bushland. The challenging nature of the hike isn’t really explained to you before you go. Bring extra cash if you are keen on doing the activities as they are a little bit costly (not necessarily a downside, just something to be mindful of if you are budgeting)

Leleana Eco Resort is owned by some lovely people who went out of their way to accommodate us. Originally our flight from Honiara to Gizo did not go ahead, so Lily offered to pick up up via boat and taxi from Munda. It was extremely out of their way and greatly appreciated. We had arranged a food package prior to our stay. When Lily picked us up, she took us through many different food markets to choose our groceries and meet a lot of lovely locals. Staying at this Eco Resort was extremely relaxing, beautiful, and gave us some of the most unforgettable memories. To top it off, a lot of the tours offered here gives money directly to the local villagers so it felt good to be able to support their communities. A few tours to highlight would be the River Cruise, Village Tour, Picnic on Makuti Island, WW2 tank, Island hopping and another guest highly recommended the bird watching guided tour. Other activities they set up for us was a beautiful dinner with hand made decorations for our anniversary, cultural bilikiki song and dance, massages and showing us how to make coconut cream. Overall a 10/10 experience and we will be back. Do not hesitate to book - it was truly amazing.

Could not fault anything

Stayed at Leleana with my 9 year old son and had the most amazing time. Lily and the team were so friendly and helpful. We snorkelled and explored the surrounding islands by boat. The accomodation right on the water was incredible: bungalows on the sea, restarant on the freshwater lake - both teeming with amazing fish life!

Unique location and authentic experience like a homestay

No wifi, no electricity in rooms to say charge a phone, no aircon, and staff is quite clueless about things and planning any requests.
