Un-Heavenly Host
The location and ease of booking were the only highlights.
I was traveling with my husband for a romantic and relaxing alone time and celebration for my 50th birthday. When we arrived on Friday evening we were planning to grill some nice steaks that we had purchased in town. The grill was rusted out and my husband made our steaks on the stove top. We were a little frustrated by this. Later we got ready to sit in the hot tub. The water was cold and the digital read out on the hot tub was not working so we couldn't see what temp the tub was set to. We tried to turn it to max heat. The water didn't warm up. We sat on the porch instead and tried to make the best of our stay. Later we went to bed and the springs on the king mattress were worn out. We knew once we sat down on the edge of the bed. We tried to sleep on the king bed but it was very uncomfortable and we had to move over to the bunk bed. We went to take a shower in the morning and we had no soap in the cabin. Only shampoo and lotion even though the listing said toiletries were provided. We showered using shampoo as soap and during our showers water was pooling in the showers. So we had to rush our showers as to not flood the bathroom floors. The toilet was also not emptying when flushed in the second restroom. I messaged the issues through the app and was given a phone number for our host. I texted the host about the issues. The host dismissed my complaints stating that she had never had these complaints before. I sent photos to the host. During our short 2 night stay, we had 2 repair people out. One repaired the hot tub and heated the water to 104 degrees. He also shared with my husband that he doesn't chemically treat the water he just dumps and refills between guests. Since now the water was too hot for our comfort we abstained from using the hot tub the second night of our stay. We did need to soak because our backs were sore from the first night on the broken springs. Then the plumber came and he snaked the drain.
