Location was perfect for college tours of Duke and UNC. The breakfast is amazing and so was the kitchen staff!!
My bedroom did smell of smoke

Was very clean. Staff was very welcoming as soon as I walked in. Loved everything about our room except for the pillow. Would definitely stay here again.
The pillows were very lumpy and soft.

The Home 2 Suites by Hilton Durham University Medical Center provided a big, comfortable room with a kitchenette (stove and microwave, well equipped), separate sitting area and good-sized bathroom. The breakfast was fine. All the staff members I interacted with were helpful and outgoing, I particularly enjoyed talking to a young man named Rob (I think) with whom I had a chat when there was no one else waiting for attention at the front desk. There was plenty of parking, I always found a spot near the building.
The supplies for sale at the little shop near the front desk are vastly overpriced, but you expect that. The real problem was the noise level in the room. The bedroom part of the suite is right by the window, which is not well sound-insulated, and I-85 runs quite close by. I had the misfortune of being there on Saturday night, when a lot of demonstrative revving and racing was going on besides the usual constant highway noise. Even with my excellent earplugs, it was hard to get to sleep and stay asleep. I would recommend asking for a room not facing the highway.

The location was great. We did not get breakfast though. Just coffee.
The only thing we didn't like was the mattress. It was so uncomfortable and made sleeping difficult. If the mattress was of a better quality then I would definitely stay there again.
