Mercure Larnaca Beach Resort

Our stay at the hotel was excellent. It is a lovely property with a beautiful room and impressive staff. The meals were outstanding. I appreciated the location, which was distant enough from the city for quiet but close enough to reach in a 15- to 20-minute drive.

The hotel is exceptionally clean and has pretty much everything you might need for a short beach holiday. The staff at reception are nice. They helped me to organise a taxi from and to the airport that was cheaper than booking.com prices. The main restaurant's food is great, although it would be nice to also have smaller dishes. Sea view rooms are absolutely worth it as otherwise you might be facing the construction site. The beach is very shallow at first but gets deeper after a short walk, and it's sandy apart from the first 2 meters that you can see in the pictures.

Didn't get any sleep. The rooms are not soundproofed, except for the balcony door. You can hear everything your neighbours are doing, and everyone walking in the hallways. I would wake up every morning either from the people chatting nearby, or the cleaners cleaning/talking/grabbing their stuff from a room next to mine. I asked to be moved to a different room, but no better option was available. I was promised they wouldn't be cleaning my floor before 9 am, but they still did, and I could also hear them in the room above me, and frankly I wanted to sleep longer than that anyway. Absolutely ridiculous, couldn't wait to go home to finally get some sleep. On my last full day there they were trimming the trees from 11 am to about 4-5 pm, seems like they chose a day when most people left, but the rest of us had to listen to this noise all day long. Also, the breakfast was surprisingly poor: withered vegetables, eggs didn't taste good, and neither did the coffee. The room is nicely designed but wasn't very functional: bathroom door was super heavy and I had to push it with my entire body weight for a few seconds; no shelves in the shower for toiletries.

I liked the setting, the pleasant staff, and the breakfast, which was tasty and offered a good variety.

The beach could be cleaner and tidier.

Significant building and infrastructure work been done outside the hotel + hotel pool was also out of action, looks like this should have been finished in January according to booking.com but still not finished when we left
