The River Cottage is nestled right in the heart of the historic village of Sperryville in Rappahannock County, Virginia.This charming one story privatestructure was built in the early 1900's - owned by John Kiger. The building, now on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally a blacksmith shop. Conestoga wagons were made behind 29 Main Street along the Thornton River. It has been renovated into an quaint open one bedroom suite with private bathand is superbly appointed for guests to enjoy! Nice little place to stay. Small town, but really close to a lot of quaint little shops and restaurants. Place was nice and comfortable, and has a private little deck on the creek which was nice to have a glass of wine after dinner.

I booked the river cottage for the river. We did enjoy relaxing on the deck and listening to the water. There is a road on the other side of the river which made it a little noisy but we did still enjoy it. The house was exactly as depicted but just not our style. It is very well decorated and was comfortable.

What a great property! Beautifully furnished and convenient to all things Sperryville! We sipped our coffee on the deck overlooking the creek. Such a pretty spot. We also enjoyed having Before and After Coffee shop next door and being able to walk to dinner and the beer garden down the street. Would highly recommend!

Great location for a getaway, would definitely look to stay here again. Super clear instructions from the host, as well as flexibility to allow us to park a little before check in. Gorgeously renovated historic building with all amenities one could need for a trip to the area. Ideal for visiting Skyline Drive, Copper Fox, Little Washington and many local wineries.
