Loved the traditional feel. Amazing Grandma who welcomed us and made our food. Food was exceptional and we tried many different food types. All explained on a sheet in English. The ryokan is in a lovely location.
We had a rental car which I’d highly recommend so you can see more of the area.
We had a triple share room and it was quite tight with all our medium size bags. I’d recommend just taking a day pack in for the night.

The location and meals were amazing. The woman who runs this place is such a sweetheart. She checked us in an determined our preferences in a lightening quick way, showed us around the property and gave us recommendations for the surrounding area. It felt less like staying at a hotel and more like staying with a friends grandmother who wanted to take care of you and make sure you were well fed! 10 out of 10!

Very nice traditional style hotel, well located for travel further into the valley. Very nice staff, and very good vegetarian food. It is tall and thin, so there are very steep stairs which might cause a problem if you're old or infirm. Note it does have a shared traditional bath (you use it one at a time, and I guess a couple could go in together), and shared toilets/washing facilities which are completely standard for traditional hotels.

Winter doona in summer, 2 toilets and 1 shower for 12 people.
Overpriced including food and drinks.
