“Story Book Barn”
is a retreat from the bustle of everyday life, where you’ll go to find
your own quiet cottage in the mountains. Located on one of the original homesteads in
Julian, you’ll experience a combination of old with Ritz quality new nestled among
mature oaks and evergreens, the cottage features all the amenities one could imagine
for a much needed getaway.
The Story Book Barn was indeed the original barn on the property and has been
renovated into a full service cottage. And features a California King Bed with twin sofa
pullout. Enjoy meals at the kitchen bar which divides the full service kitchen from the
bedroom. The beds face a 55′′ flat screen TV with Dish service.
Enjoy the full service kitchen with stove, oven, full size refrigerator. We provide coffee, tea, and a coffee maker. We make your meal preparation easy by offering utensils, pots and pans.
The private patio from the kitchen offers serenity to enjoy over 5 acres of open views
and mountains from the patio.
The bathroom offers a full size glass shower and while modest in size offers all the
amenities you would need such as toiletries, and high quality towels.

I have stayed at Angela's properties at this location 4 times total in the past year or so, the three previous times in the other cabin next to the Storybook Barn. In general these are great properties, but I withheld one star in my review because of the AV system, which I have brought to Angela's attention several times without anything changing. In both properties, the AV system is very old and outdated, with multiple boxes and many remotes. It is very unclear how to use these, quite confusing and frustrating, and the technology is outdated. I was never able to use the TV for much (the cable works, but I do not watch cable): the TV does not support casting from a computer, for example, and was not even able to load YouTube videos, giving an error saying 'not enough storage'. I sent Angela a message and she did reply quickly, but this was no help for my 3 day stay because no one was onsite to help. I applaud Angela as a very responsive host, meaning she always answers quickly after texting her through VRBO, and she said she would put some directions on how to use the AV system for the next guest. But I had mentioned the AV problem in the other property before and nothing has changed each time I have stayed in these properties. To Angela's credit, there was a problem with the grill last time I stayed, and she fixed that right away with a new grill! I just wish the AV system was usable. Thank you.

The cottage was perfectly clean and a joy to stay. Our Host were awesome young couple. The location is remote and beautiful but very close to Julian itself. Very very Comfortable. We will be back Jim & Ruth

Peaceful beautiful place. Dana is the perfect host. We loved the property and all the animals. We did not want to leave and will definitely stay again.
