A place with great potential… sadly underused!

The apartment has a lot of character and great potential. The location is excellent – though best for those who don’t mind a bit of a climb, as it’s on a hill. Right next door there’s a lovely viewpoint with benches and a beautiful panorama over Lisbon and the airport, where we spent quite a bit of time relaxing in the shade of olive trees. It’s only about a 30-minute walk to Alfama, which is a big plus. The apartment itself is spacious, clean, and well-equipped.

Unfortunately, there were some significant issues during our stay. The most serious one was a very strong sewage smell in the upper floor. Being a technical person, I discovered that the shower drain was missing a trap to block odors. I found it stored under the sink and installed it myself, but it didn’t solve the problem – the sink drain was also leaking. After reporting this, the staff sent someone to replace the pipe elbow, which helped a little but did not eliminate the smell. The explanation we were given – that “it’s just the charm of old buildings” and supposedly caused by the tide – doesn’t hold up for anyone familiar with plumbing. The actual cause seems to be poorly sealed pipe outlets (temporarily “sealed” with plastic bags), which could be permanently fixed with proper mortar and silicone. The apartment’s overall condition could use attention: cracked and poorly patched walls, bathrooms in need of renovation (moldy grout, broken cabinet under the sink, shower door that won’t close so the whole bathroom gets wet), and upstairs accordion blinds that don’t work at all. One mosquito screen was also broken and wouldn’t stay shut. We were also a bit surprised by the request to take out all the rubbish ourselves before leaving, especially as there are no containers nearby – although, after asking, we were told just to gather it in the kitchen, which was fine but still a bit unusual. Finally, the upstairs air conditioner was loud and not very effective, which made sleeping difficult in 40°C heat – especially as the blackout blinds didn’t work. In conclusion, we wouldn’t rent this apartment again at the current price in its present condition. At half the price – and with the plumbing properly fixed – we would consider it.

Sporco, deludente, maleodorante.

La posizione è buona, leggermente fuori dal centro ma vicina a fermate bus e metro, inoltre è presente un bel punto panoramico a circa 30 metri di distanza.

La struttura è vecchia, le immagini non rappresentano minimamente la realtà. È estremamente SPORCA, nel piano superiore una stanza più bagno e doccia è totalmente inutilizzabile a causa dell’odore di fogna e muffa presente nel bagno che pervade tutta la stanza, infatti non essendoci un sifone per la doccia, fuoriesce odore di fogna e l’umidità ha portato al formarsi di muffe che peggiorano la situazione. Alcune zone con la muffa sono state ricoperte di intonaco come se si potesse risolvere il problema in questa maniera…. Anche la pulizia del resto del duplex lasciava a desiderare tra sporcizia, peli pubici, capelli e muffa. Il personale (agenzia) ha sempre risposto in maniera educata ai messaggi ma fregandosene altamente delle lamentele, cercando di coprire l’odore di fogna con litri di candeggina versati nello scarico…che chiaramente non risolvono il problema.

O apartamento tem o espaço bom para 6 pessoas e está bem mobiliado e a cozinha bem equipada. A entrada e saída no apartamento ocorreu sem problemas através de um código de acesso.

No penúltimo dia da estadia o banheiro do quarto de cima começou a feder. Os aquecedores dos quartos de baixo não podiam ser ligados ao mesmo tempo, pois desligavam/desarmavam o disjuntor no quadro elétrico.
