About this house rental

This cozy "house-within-a-house" loft apartment is located on the first floor and in the right half of the former school building, which was built in 1818 by Count Schenk, then owner of Unterdießen Castle. With 120 square meters spread across various living and sleeping areas, it can accommodate up to 10 guests.
Pure peace and relaxation; art and culture in the immediate vicinity and throughout the Pfaffenwinkel region; Lake Ammersee and Lake Starnberg, the mountains, Munich and Augsburg, Neuschwanstein Castle, many historic old towns, amusement parks, and more are all within easy driving distance.
And afterward, enjoy a cozy evening in your own garden area, by the fire in the Swedish stove, or playing board games with your family.
If you need more space, you can also rent the first floor, which features a 60-square-meter living/sleeping area that sleeps 2–4 people, as well as an additional bathroom with a shower. It is not rented out separately to other vacation guests.
In addition, since June 2023, there has been a living cube in the garden with its own toilet and shower and a fold-out bed for 1–2 people, which can be rented as an addition or on its own.
The loft is available for rent on its own, together with the first floor, and/or with the garden cube.
In total, sleeping accommodations for 14 to a maximum of 16 people are available to my guests.
If you’re interested, I’d be happy to provide you with a customized package quote.

The Via Claudia residence is located 10 km from Landsberg am Lech in Unterdießen, a village on the Romantic Road as well as on the historic Via Claudia Augusta—now an excellently developed and organized cycling trail stretching over 700 km from Donauwörth to Veneto.
We are located in Upper Bavaria, between the Loisach and Lech rivers, south of Lake Starnberg and Lake Ammer, on the edge of the picturesque Pfaffenwinkel region with its numerous Baroque churches, monasteries, and historic small towns, as well as its magnificent view of the Alpine foothills. You can feel the charm of “Upper Bavarian Tuscany” everywhere.
The Wiesbach River winds its way picturesquely through Unterdießen, and the Lech River is only 4 km away. The Gothic parish church, the castle, picturesque houses, and the nearby forest make up the immediate surroundings. There is a bakery in town (200 m); an inn with a lovely beer garden (100 m); and numerous good restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Unterdießen lies at the intersection of four of Bavaria’s most beautiful regions: the Allgäu with its stunning landscapes, mountains, and lakes; Bavarian Swabia with its wealth of towns and monasteries; the Five Lakes Region with its lush and picturesque recreational landscape; and the Pfaffenwinkel with some of Germany’s most beautiful churches. Munich, Augsburg, Füssen, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as well as Lake Ammer, Lake Starnberg, and the Alps, are all just a short drive away.

Just as colorful as the political landscape of the Holy Roman Empire was, so too is the range of cultural and recreational experiences around Unterdießen today: Hundreds of churches and monasteries worth seeing, old imperial cities and abbeys, dozens of museums, entertainment and recreational venues, lakes, and mountains come together to create one of the most beautiful recreational areas in Central Europe.

Concert series in Ottobeuren, Irsee, the Wieskirche, and many other locations, ensemble theater in Augsburg and Memmingen, folk festivals, farmers’ markets, and Christmas markets provide a diverse array of activities.

We enjoyed our stay at this converted school house. Close to the train station with a bakery and a little beer garden nearby! Our hostess Solitaire was a great guide and speaks great English

A great location to rest while being about an hour away from lots of fun things to do. We stayed 9 nights in the middle of a European tour with our six kids. There is an excellent playground, bakery and restaurant/beer garden within walking distance. The space is very well situated to accommodate 6 or 7. We were comfortable but think that we would have been very happy with a slightly smaller party. The apartment is over our host’s home. The windows do not have screens, and we did have flys and a couple bug bites. There was only one fan in the apartment. Mostly that was fine but a couple very hot days left us wishing for another fan or two. The bells toll every 15 minutes around the clock. It’s really charming and lovely.

An excellent location to explore Bayern. The flat was well appointed and comfortable for the 7 of us. There are many stairs up to and inside the flat so if a traveller has problems with stairs they might want to consider another rental. I would not recommend this rental for those with small children given the open concept of the stairs. That being said, we enjoyed our stay and the hospitality of our host. The village has a great bakery, small store and a restaurant which we did not try. There are church bells that ring every morning at 6:00am which adds to the overall experience.
