Fynbos House - Perfect getaway experience! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We will definitely NOT be back for this "glamp" experience, as our normal camp setup is better.

This place is good for the summer months in groups. The river, views, and location are great. You would be able to spend the majority of your time outdoors. The views are beautiful. The addition of the hot blanket gets you through the cold evenings comfortably.

There is NO security on the premises. In all our camping experiences there was always some type of property access control or patrol. We never experienced this type of open access to ANYONE. There was NO control of the noise level. We had very rowdy neighbors that shouted throughout the weekend and played their music loud without any respect for other guests. We had to wait for two hours before we were assisted with the shower. The hot water side, when opened, had no water coming out. It is true that once the water runs hot, you have about 5 minutes to jump in and out. It was just my husband and I, so I have no clue how this shower would accommodate 6 people. Cutlery and crockery were DIRTY. I washed it before using. Generally, the living quarters felt like they weren't cleaned; even the carpets could do with a vacuum. Sheets were sandy and had so many stains on them. The braai stands, even though kind of clean, were mostly rusted. Take your own grid with. No canoes in sight. We will definitely NOT be back for this "glamp" experience, as our normal camp setup is better. Definitely not worth R1 400 a night. There could be a rate for less than 6. The hot tub used about 3.5 7kg bags to get boiling hot. We took our own wood since we camp often. When we arrived, the hot tub was filled with river water that had been sitting for an average of 24 hours. However, looking at the amount of debris and slime floating, we opted not to use the tub. According to what Courage told us, it did not sound like there was any treatment of filtering or movement of the water before our stay. *I would strongly caution any future guests about being very careful about this* Stagnant river water, heated, can present waterborne parasites, etc. We would much rather have taken a swim in the flowing Olifants River if it weren't so cold. We had to wait for two hours before we were assisted with the shower. The hot water side, when opened, had no water coming out.
