Cromwell Manor Inn is a beautiful converted mansion built in the 1760s in upstate New York. Right across from summer camps and nature walks, the peaceful natural environment is like having a front row seat to a nature show. The grounds are beautiful, with mature trees, soft grass, and beautiful flowers. It is like something out of a historical painting. During our stay, we were hosted in a blue guest house just at the entrance of the drive. I imagine it must have been the caretaker's residence once upon a time. Today it is three cozy rooms, complete with fireplace and clawfoot tub - and also a modern bathroom with shower if a tub isn't your thing. The staff are wonderful, home making scratch breakfast every morning and reachable easily during your stay via text. There is a property dog - Roy - who is a sweet, mushy, giant teddy bear of a dog. I don't consider myself a dog person, but I really liked Roy. He was a gentle giant, plopping down in front of guests for pets and wishful bacon. All in all, it is a lovely little luxurious escape. 1 hour from New York City, 20 min from West Point.
