Boyne House Slane

Great breakfast in the restaurant!

Not a thing. It was all great. The property is a very cool country home hidden off the main road behind a wall. Excellent condition. Feels like you are staying in a stately home. Would definitely come back.

Boyne house is in a beautiful location and the grounds are well kept and idyllic. The beds were comfortable and the room was lovely and warm despite it being 2 degrees outside. The room was spacious and full of upcycled furniture which we loved.

We arrived just after 9pm and a note on reception said to lift the phone to call for the night staff to check in. We could here the phone vibrating under the reception desk so that was pointless. We found a member of staff in the dining room that was lovely and checked us in. The duvet covers on the beds had more cover than duvet, this is obviously to tuck the cover in under the mattress but once untucked it hung limp and felt as though you only had half a duvet! There was a hair on the flannel in the bathroom and only one sachet of coffee the other two were decaf and the upholstery and walls were very scuffed and stained. These things would not ordinarily bother me however I have stayed in B&Bs for almost half the price of this stay that have been maintained to a higher standard. There was a piece of tissue being used as a stopper for the water bottle also. Upon checking out as it was almost midday due to me leaving my daughter to have a lie in while I had work in the morning the receptionist made a point of pointing out it wasn't morning anymore and Im not sure if that was a dig as we had not checked out earlier but I did leave feeling a little upset that we had been made to feel that way. The tv was also very basic. As mentioned none of this apart from being made to feel judged/lazy would bother me as we did sleep ok and wouldn't have used the flannels but since we regularly pay between €90 and €125 for stays that have been far superior in terms of cleanliness and attention to detail it did make me feel as though the pricing was a little steep.

We booked Boyne House but when the staff discovered that the majority of the house had been booked by a wedding party (after we checked in) they moved us to the main hotel a it was quieter.
