Lovely pool, excellent breakfast. Walking distance to beaches and aquarium. Staff were very friendly.
Lunch was a bit pricey for what it was.

We visited Uhuru in September and stayed there for 10 days. Before our stay, we read the reviews and were prepared for a few small things that might not be perfect, which seemed completely acceptable considering the price. It was our third stay in Zanzibar, and I have to say that some of the other reviews are looking at things from the wrong perspective. We are in Africa. European standards are possible, but they also cost money. You cannot expect a 5-star luxury hotel with all European comforts for €30–50 per night. Of course, you can get that level of comfort, but then you will pay around €150 per night. Yes, there were power cuts. Usually, the staff informed us in advance. They mostly happened between 6 pm and 11 pm because work is being done on the power supply in Zanzibar. The hotel has a generator, but it provides emergency power and is not strong enough to run things like the air conditioning. We could easily plan around the power cuts, and for us it was not a problem at all. The room had air conditioning, a fridge, a hairdryer and everything else we needed. Everything was clean and the room was cleaned very well every day. The staff were extremely friendly, always smiling and always ready to help. Every request was dealt with immediately. For example, one morning we mentioned that the kettle in our room was not working, and a new one was provided immediately. Communication is everything. The hotel manager and his team are extremely friendly and helpful. Several times, the manager even offered to drive us somewhere for free. Thank you, Mohammed, for your great hospitality. We chose this hotel because it is small. We do not like large, anonymous hotel complexes. A small hotel will naturally always have a more limited breakfast selection. Having a huge buffet would probably just lead to a lot of food being wasted. Nevertheless, there were always two hot dishes, fresh fruit, bread, eggs or an omelette prepared to order, fresh juice and pancakes. Everything
Everything was tasty and more than enough for us. A toaster would be a nice additional improvement. The pool was clean, and the table tennis and pool table were in very good condition. We were very happy with our stay. It is Africa, and some things are different from Germany. And that is a good thing. Otherwise, there would be no reason for me to travel on holiday. You should be willing to accept and enjoy these differences. And by the way, during our stay we also noticed that some tourists really behave terribly. Greetings to France. If I only looked at the few small things that could perhaps be improved, I would probably give the hotel 8 points. But when I also consider the price-performance ratio and the warm hospitality of Mohammed and his team, I cannot give anything other than a full 10 points. Again, welcome to Africa. Enjoy its special charm. It is absolutely worth it.
