The rooms are beautiful. We stayed in one of the bungalows, and it was absolutely lovely: well decorated, spotlessly clean, fresh, and very comfortable.
The staff were exceptional throughout our stay. They were attentive, helpful, polite, courteous, and incredibly efficient. The pool was also wonderful and very clean. Being an open, natural environment, you do occasionally see insects or water beetles around the pool, but this is understandable given the setting.
The main downside was the restaurant's location next to the lake. We visited during a particularly wet period, and the number of insects around the restaurant made it extremely difficult to sit comfortably and enjoy dinner. Unfortunately, this significantly affected our dining experience.
The chef was excellent when it came to local cuisine, which we really enjoyed. However, based on the international and continental dishes we tried, we felt these were not at the same standard as the local food. I would definitely recommend focusing on the local dishes, which seem to be the kitchen's real strength.

Location was beautiful. We really enjoyed lounging by the pool listening to birds. The safari was wonderful too, managed to see elephants playing in the water which was magical.

Gal Oya Lake Club is a beautiful location and base for safaris in Gal Oya. Rooms are very spacious, the view on the lake is very nice. The choice of two pools is a well-taken refresher during hot days, food was good!
Value for money from our perspective was still OK but rather on the expensive side. Lightning in the room is very limited.
