Gran Cruz House

Gran Cruz House is a beautiful boutique hotel right on the river. We booked it especially for my spouse’s birthday. He wanted to be close to the water with a water view and Gran Cruz House delivered. From initial booking, staff were responsive to all my queries and when we ran into airline flight cancellation issues, they were supportive and helpful. Antonio checked us into the hotel when we finally arrived one day after we were supposed to arrive. He was professional, helpful, and friendly. In fact, this is true of all the staff with whom we interacted. The staff at this hotel and in Casario, the onsite restaurant, are professionals in the truest and oldest sense of the word Hospitality. My husband and I used to work in the industry and these staff are outstanding. Our room was impeccably clean and there was a bottle of Port in the room to great us The food at Casario was exceptional. Breakfast was generous and delicious. Antonio even arranged a breakfast box for us, as our flight was leaving very early in the morning and we had to leave at 5am. Gran Cruz House is located in a very busy, very tourist-centric part of Porto. It is busy. There are a lot of people. It can be noisy, particularly with the buskers. During the weeknights, the noise stops around 9pm. It can go later on Fridays and Saturdays. If you are a light sleeper, bring some earplugs. Know that this is a great place to stay. It’s clean. It’s comfortable. It’s spacious. It’s a beautiful property.

Gran Cruz House is an exceptional place to stay, perfectly situated right on the Douro River. The location is unbeatable, with everything you could want or need just a short walk away. Breakfast was superb, and I highly recommend having dinner at the restaurant as well—the food was delicious. Be sure to sample their outstanding port wine too! The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, making our stay truly memorable. I highly recommend Gran Cruz House to anyone visiting Porto!

Bruno was very helpful! He arranged for a shuttle to pick us up at the Douro Marina, and he also made reservations for us at your restaurant, Casario. (Bruno was very quick to respond to any communications with us.) The Casario restaurant was absolutely amazing! Very good! Would definitely recommend! And the next morning, Bruno was there to serve us a most wonderful complimentary breakfast! I just wish we had decided to stay a few more days in Porto. We had a wonderful, but too brief, visit there! I will definitely recommend the Gran Cruz House to friends who plan to visit Porto!

The rooms were wonderfully clean. The location couldn’t have been better. Breakfast was excellent and restaurant at the hotel was amazing for dinner The staff was friendly and very helpful and helped us plan our travel arrangements.
