The staff are kind and friendly, walked us through everything we needed to know upon check in. They will ask you to book a slot for the rooftop Onsen for 50 mins (which we really enjoyed). They also have a steamer for you to steam your food (Beppu style)and another private onsen next to it (no reservations needed). You would also be given a set of yukata to wear during your stay
The location is in the middle of a narrow street quite far from the train station area (15 mins drive) where most of the restaurants and cafe are at. But anyways most Ryokans are located here in Kannawa

Amazing from start to end! The place is super cute with exceptionally friendly staff. It has a family vibe to it. What you get for your money is amazing: Free parking, free softdrinks, sake, tea and even coffee all day long. Be sure to book the dinner option! That was the best dinner we had in 4 weeks of traveling Japan. Be sure to leave some space in your stomach before though. Breakfast was also good but very Japanese and only until 8:30. Hells of Beppu are easily reachable by foot and there's even a big full supermarket 5 mins by foot. An enchanting place!

We loved everything about this ryokan. It is within walking distance to five of the Beppu Hells and only a short 3km drive to the remaining two. The historic Kannawa Steam Bath is also a short walk away. The baths on-site were extremely relaxing after a full day of sightseeing. The in-house breakfast on each day was delicious and so beautifully presented Mum and I almost couldn't bear to eat them. At specific times in the day you could also just relax in the common lounge with a complimentary coffee or tea, or shochu and nuts. The staff were all very warm and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. 特に、城内さんがすごく優しく対応してくれて本当にありがとうございます。

The staff was attentive and i could have a private onsen.
They didn’t explain the dinner well so I had much less than the other guests.
