staff was friendly. hotel has a laundry room. the staff initially gave me the wrong amount for the laundry room but when I told them, they gave me the extra tokens without charging for more money. every day, at 3-5pm, there's a "happy hour" where they provide snacks/sandwiches and wine.
Our room didn't have a way to block out the bathroom light. The light shined through the glass wall-like separator between the bathroom and bedroom.

This was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had! The service and care we received at The Kuala Lumpur Journal Hotel was top-notch. The moment we stepped out of the GRAB, the doorman/security/awesome individual, began taking all of our bags... even my plastic Trader Joe’s bag. He put everything on the trolley to store and gate us a number. Later, whenever we even looked like we were about to leave, he would open the door for us. From the concierge to housekeeping to the breakfast bar and buffet servers, the service was amazing! Even when something wasn’t quite right, they went above and beyond to fix it. There was one server (I think his name was Anamul) who gave us extra care and made us feel special. Something that is often not the case for my race in the US. It was heartwarming. When I stomped my toe walking back from the Merdeka Day fireworks on Malaysia’s uneven sidewalks. The woman at the concierge that evening, not only helped and had the doorman bring me ice, but the next day she remembered and constantly asked how I was doing whenever she saw me. The KL Journal hotel is all about taking pride in customer service and putting the customer first. It set a high bar for Malaysia, (which unfortunately fell quite short after our stay here.) As an added BONUS... They have afternoon tea time with complimentary appetizers and free-flow wine hour, DAILY! Have you booked yet? lol I miss this place. I would highly recommend staying at the KL Journal Hotel when you visit Kuala Lumpur. The hotel itself is not luxury; it’s the employees who make the place a pampered experience. I had written down names of people to mention, but I can’t remember who’s who now. So, Anamul, Anamul, Khaelag (sp), Afig, Karyn, Munira, Carmen, and anyone else I forgot… Termina Kasih Banyak-Banyak!
One minor con is the room lighting could be a little brighter. Also, the hotel corridors were warm, but I now know this is the norm for most of the hotels/buildings I've stayed at in SE Asia. When I got to the room the a/c wasn't on. I felt faint and thought something was wrong with the room. Concierge immediately sent housekeeping up with a fan and searched for an air purifier. Turns out, I just needed to switch on the a/c with the keycard. Duh! This is done to conserve energy, so it's understandable. Just be prepared for that. I am now. :)

Location. And staff were super helpful
Had to collect your toiletries from near lift versus it already being in the room

Great location in Bukit - close to bars, restaurants and shopping malls, though right next to a noisy nightclub so definitely something to keep in mind. Pool was closed during my stay (and next to the rooftop bar so not everyones taste!)
Noise from the nightclub.
