The Upper Bavarian town of Inzell is located in the southern part of the Traunstein district in the Chiemgau Alps. Thanks to its many recreational activities, Inzell is a popular vacation destination.
While summer offers the chance to explore the breathtaking mountain scenery on extended bike rides or hikes, winter also shows itself at its best, blanketing the Inzell landscape in a white mantle. Over 30 km of groomed and largely interconnected cross-country trails invite winter sports enthusiasts to glide across the snowy landscape and enjoy the fantastic Alpine panorama. Those who prefer downhill skiing can do so on Inzell’s local mountain, the Kessellift; which is perfect for beginners. In addition, the well-known ski areas of Reit im Winkel—including the Winkelmoosalm—and Steinplatte on the Austrian side are within easy reach. Inzell is also renowned in winter for speed skating, with many competitions taking place at the Max-Aicher-Arena.
In summer, Inzell serves as a great starting point for a wide variety of easy and challenging hikes and bike tours. Crossing the Hochstaufen is a challenging day trip, as are many of the signposted mountain bike trails around the nearby mountain peaks.
In addition, Inzell is an excellent starting point for activities throughout the Chiemgau region, such as a boat tour on Lake Chiemsee, guided tours of the salt mine in Berchtesgarden, the salt works and spa facilities in Bad Reichenhall, or even a city and cultural excursion to nearby Salzburg.
Our in-house digital kiosk & hospitality desk has plenty of suggestions and tour ideas ready for you.
