A deeply disappointing stay in an uncomfortable, poorly maintained property, made worse by the lack

The house was close to all amenities, there was a park across the road and access to river. It was pet friendly.

Unfortunately, we had to make a formal complaint to Booking.com on the second day of our seven-night stay because the condition and general standard of the property were so disappointing. We had paid £1,278.40 in advance for five guests and expected the property to be clean, comfortable, safe and properly maintained. It did not meet those reasonable expectations. Booking.com informed us that they had attempted to contact the owner regarding our complaint but had been unsuccessful. Despite providing photographs and detailed information about the problems, we were unable to obtain a meaningful refund or resolution. Because we had already paid for the accommodation and could not afford to pay again for another property at such short notice, we were effectively left with nowhere else to go. This had a significant impact on our holiday and left us feeling trapped in accommodation that we would otherwise have chosen to leave. The top-floor bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress appeared old, uneven and very lumpy, and the bed made a loud squeaking noise whenever anyone moved. We tried turning the mattress and adding an extra quilt in an attempt to make it usable, but this made very little difference. It was extremely difficult to sleep comfortably. The top-floor bedroom window could not be properly locked and had been left open. This meant that we could hear traffic noise throughout the night. More importantly, a window that cannot be secured is a serious safety concern, particularly in accommodation being rented to members of the public. The kitchen was in a particularly poor condition. It was tired, inadequately maintained and did not feel hygienic or suitable for preparing meals. Many of the pots, pans and kitchen utensils were dirty or in such poor condition that we did not feel comfortable using them. We ran items through the dishwasher twice, but they still did not appear properly clean. The kettle contained a considerable amount of limescale

The rooms were spacious

The whole house smelt like a public toilet it was that bad downstairs we didnt stay in the.rooms.as the smell was so offensive freezer was frozen solid with food in it bathroom sink had massive crack in it luckily we only booked the.one night so we used bedroom and left early next day

Lovely clean, open space. A great place to visit as a family. The two children also loved having a top bunk each! The thing we really appreciated was the kitchen. It was so lovely to be able have access to pots and pans to easily cook evening meals/make breakfast for 6 people.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Property right in the centre, accommodation perfect for a family gathering, quickly homely cottage, felt like it had lots of history, cozy and comfy beds, very clean , ideal for large groups.
