Clean room extremely friendly staff that could not do more to help. Food in pub was very good for a chain. Lack of air conditioning but was expecting it and fans worked well

We stopped off at the Royal Oak for a couple of nights on our way back to Scotland after holidaying in Wales. We had plans to visit Chester and Liverpool before heading home and the location worked well for us travelling by car. There was plenty of parking available at the inn and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our family room was clean, comfortable and spacious enough for the four of us. One of the biggest positives about the Royal Oak was the bar and restaurant. The food was excellent and there were plenty of deals that made it great value, so we ate there both nights. They also offered a decent value cooked or continental breakfast, which we took advantage of both mornings. The restaurant alone would make us consider staying here again, however there are also a multitude of takeaways and shops nearby if needed. There is also a reasonably priced service station across the road and supermarkets nearby. We would gladly stay here again, however a couple of minor points: The Freeview TV in our room had very poor reception, so the picture kept breaking up and freezing. None of the snack vending machines we tried to use were working. Overall, the interior was starting to look a bit tired and would benefit from a spruce up.

Clean rooms, good food and food choice, friendly staff. I was less pleased that a couple came into the restaurant area with their dog which they allowed to walk on their chosen table. A number of members of staff obviously saw this but chose to ignore it. There seems to be little point in having a high cleanliness rating if dog owners are not only allowed to bring their animal in to the restaurant but then not challenged when abusing that permission

Very friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food we had was great value for money.
