It was fine for an overnight stop well stocked bar, breakfast a bit pricey if you do not take advantage of the full buffet, we had an evening meal that was fair.
Our room 14 was right at the top of the building and not best access for a couple in their seventies very winding steep stairs, but we do appreciate it is a very old building. We also had a very strong smell in the bathroom and had to leave the fan on to keep it at bay.

The pub and bar scene obviously very popular and friendly.

Very central with residents' parking accessed from Victoria Road. Popular with (friendly) locals and visitors. Staff very pleasant and our twin room (10) was clean and comfortable (2 flights of stairs a bit of a trial for me - not a criticism!). An "occasional" chair would have been useful, the shower room was very good (rainfall shower not our favourite). Proper, reasonably priced, pub food in the evening and for breakfast help yourself to juice, tea, coffee, cereals, toast with cooked food made to order (£14.99pp).
Altogether this suited us very well, we would choose to stay again.
